  To respond to Kevin’s question— I think we could use a painted crosswalk as a first step. I know the beacon was a substantial investment when the Brooks got it, ideally we try the first step in safety management in the painted version.

  This is a safety issue for numerous community members (high school, Temple, park visitors, residents). It needs a crosswalk now, a HAWK beacon whenever possible, and some additional traffic control on Winthrop. I do not think it is too much to ask to make the temporary crosswalk permanent.

  Thank you for taking the time to notify the City about this important subject. This issue has been received by the City. We will look into this issue and resolve it accordingly.

  Note: requests for new items that don't currently exist (like new crosswalks) must go through the Medford Traffic Commission. The Traffic Commission is the official City entity with the regulatory authority to approve such requests. Versus requests for maintenance related to existing crosswalks, etc. - which Seeclickfix can help with.
